Please be sure to read these rules carefully as they are especially important to your safety while enjoying your summer at the Garden City Pool. All members of the Garden City Swim Club are required to follow all the Pool Rules & Policies.
1. SAFETY FIRST: In the event of any need to close the pool due to weather or mechanical problems, members will be notified by the REMIND app or FACEBOOK post announcement. It is your responsibility to check those outlets for information. GCSC reserves the right to close during an emergency, in whole or in part of an entire day for the safety of its members.
2. Any member who impedes, slows, disrupts, or in any way prohibits actions from being taken by the Manager, Lifeguards, Pool Board or Management staff in the course and scope of either remedying a safety hazard or their regular duties, will have their membership immediately terminated, be ineligible to be considered for membership for the next five (5) calendar years, and may be subject to police escort from the property. GCSC takes the safety of its club members and guests seriously.
2a. Any GUEST of any member who impedes, slows, disrupts, or in any way prohibits actions from being taken by the Manager, Lifeguards, Pool Board or Management staff in the course and scope of either remedying a safety hazard or their regular duties, will be immediately directed to leave the property and the member who brought them will have their membership immediately suspended and under review.
3. Pool and pool area may not be entered when a lifeguard is not on duty.
4. No running, skateboarding, rollerblading, or bike riding inside of the pool area. Bikes must be walked from the gate to the bike rack.
5. Abusive language, profanity and fighting are cause for expulsion and/or suspension.
6. Littering will not be tolerated. Violators will be required to clean up the area.
7. Only members with proper identification and their guest(s) will be admitted. Misrepresentation of membership, or misuse of guest privileges is a cause for loss of membership privileges.
8. Members under the age 18 are not allowed to bring guests to the pool unless their parent or legal guardian, who is also a member, is present and remains at the pool with their minor and their guest(s).
9. Children 12 years of age and under MUST be supervised by a member who is their parent or guardian, who will be responsible for the safety of such child (children) in ALL areas including the playground and the baby pool. In order to swim in the big pool, children must be able to pass a deep-water test issued by the lifeguard.
10. NO GLASS CONTAINERS are permitted on the Club grounds.
11. Wheeled vehicles are not permitted in the fenced areas. This excludes wheelchairs & strollers.
12. No animals are permitted on the premises.
13. No person with a rash or skin abrasion evident on their body will be permitted to use the pool facilities.
14. No eyeglasses, contact lenses, earrings, barrettes, bobby pins, or necklaces may be worn in the water.
15. Dunking or rough housing are not permitted.
16. Ball playing, rafts, floats and all other swimming aids are not permitted without specific permission from the manager or head guard on duty.
17. Children over 7 years of age are not permitted in the baby pool.
18. Management is not responsible for loss of or damage to valuables.
19. No talking to lifeguards while they are on duty.
20. No chewing gum.
21. All swimmers, including guests, must be able to pass a lifeguard-supervised deep-water test. (Baby pool for those under 7 – not included)
22. Proper swim attire must be worn in the swimming pool. Proper swim attire is bathing suits or swim trunks. Only white t-shirts (used for sun protection only) will be permitted to be worn in the pool. Color t-shirts can cause a chemical imbalance in the water. No street attire is permitted to be worn in the swimming pool.
23. NO SMOKING is permitted on the pool deck on or anywhere within the fenced in area. Minors are not permitted to smoke anywhere on the pool property, even if their parents allow them to smoke.
24. Spitting anywhere in the pool area is prohibited. Anyone caught spitting will be asked to wash the area on their first violation. Further violations of this rule can be cause for expulsion.
25. Members may bring grills for use on grounds as long as the grills are in good repair and are used on the patio in front of the concession stand.
26. **IMPORTANT** If the lifeguard blows three (3) long whistles, clear the pool immediately!!! Three (3) long whistles signify an emergency in the pool.
27. **IMPORTANT** If you are asked to leave the premises, either a member or guests, you are expected to comply immediately and a review of your complaint will be promptly heard by the Board of Directors. If you refuse to leave, thereby causing a disruption in staff attention to their duties, you may be subject to police action and GCSC will impose a suspension of no less that two (2) weeks of your membership while the Board determines whether to permit your membership to remain valid. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE safety protocol.
28. In the event any member or guest is deemed alcohol or otherwise impaired by the manager on duty, they will be asked to leave the premises and are ineligible to return for twenty-four (24) hours, pending review of the associated membership by the Board. Any member or guests bringing any illegal substances onto the premises will immediately be asked to leave the premises and management reserves the right to contact law enforcement.
